List of past LJ posts about the SS Edmund Fitzgerald and related music

Today is the fortieth anniversary of the loss of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald due to a freakish storm on Lake Superior. Accompanying vessels lost contact with the ship shortly after 7:10 p.m. the evening of November 10, 1975 amid consistent tropical storm-force winds with hurricane-force gusts. Instead of recapping events, I thought I’d dig up the entries where I had done so (mostly) already.

Nov. 11, 2005: The Gales of November Remembered

Nov. 13, 2003: Gales of November (Mostly about Gordon Lightfoot’s famous ballad and my history with it.)

About songdogmi

I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.
