Christmastime was here … Happiness and cheer…

I didn’t think I was going to disappear for over a week, there… but the last-minute holiday rush got me good and addled. I took two days off work just so I could get my shopping and other preparations done, and I just made it. The actual day turned out pretty well. It was hectic, though, since I had a lot of family over, including three children under eight years old. It was nice to have them over, and nice to have quiet again after they left. Lost in all the hubbub was any semblance of Christmas spirit, unfortunately, but things seemed good in the end, anyway.

Dave is coming up for New Year’s today. We don’t have much else planned other than dinner and a DVD on New Year’s Eve. I have to work on Monday, as well as take Mom to a doctor appointment, but other than that it should be relaxing.

Mom is doing pretty well, with no lingering effects from her stent procedure a week ago. She has good days and bad days. Fortunately she was able to get a few good days in a row so she could go shopping and finish her holiday preparations.

I’ve started working on my year-end LJ postings, so it shouldn’t be another week before I post something here again.

About songdogmi

I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.
