From yesterday’s email string with Dave:
Dave: Now, where were we?
Me: On a sandy beach somewhere in the U.P. in late August, on a warm day after the bugs are gone, wading on the very edge of Lake Superior.*
Dave: No. The beach is east of Sumatra and you’re wading in the Indian Ocean. See that odd-looking mountain over there with its top cut off? That’s Tambora. 🙂
Me: I like my volcanism a bit more extinct, like the Keweenawan Rift.
Which is not to say the beach east of Sumatra would be awful if Tambora was not erupting. It also wouldn’t require time-travel; Sumatra is warm now, unlike the Upper Peninsula.
