My college friend Fran sent me this via Facebook. (Thanks!) Since I’m not playing out these days, I’m missing out on performing this in public in commemoration. So I thought I’d share this here. Gord sings it better, anyway.

I wrote a summary of the ship and the song in LJ for the 30th anniversary.

My grampa used to work the boats, did I ever mention that? No, it’s not just a song lyric.* My mother’s father was a cook on freighters that sailed from Duluth/Superior to Detroit and Toledo and beyond. There’s a story in there, if I could ever really pull together the genealogy.

* “Take Me Down to the Lake,” from my album Another Road. I should put that on ReverbNation, maybe.

About songdogmi

I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.
