LJ: Today’s thoughts

The DDoS attacks against LJ (or certain LJ users) has been linked to Russia’s ongoing political campaign. They will hold legislative elections in December 2011, and presidental election in March 2012, according to the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS)’s ElectionGuide. I hope this doesn’t mean another year of DDoS attacks and LJ downtime, though it must be said that things seem pretty calm here at the moment.

Speaking of presidents, our fellow LJer, Dmitry Medvedev, is not amused about the attacks. (It looks as if every major news outlet worldwide has a version of that story.) Believe me, Sir, we are with you there.

About songdogmi

I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.

The DDoS attacks are the actions of a coward.
