In television news, both WTVS (channel 56) and WXYZ (channel 7) got approval from the FCC to boost their broadcasting power and antenna height by significant amounts (per the broadcasting website Michiguide. I hope that means Mom and my sister (who lives about 50 miles north of the city of Detroit) will be able to watch them better, though I think they’re the channels that come in the best for Mom, at least. (Neither of them has cable.)
And finally, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra reached a tentative agreement with the musicians union, and they’ll be playing a free concert this weekend at Orchestra Hall. On the program is Dvořák’s Symphony from the New World, and tickets are free. It’ll also be broadcast on both WRCJ-FM (Sunday at 3 p.m.) and WTVS (Sunday at 7:30 p.m.). Huzzah!
