Mom had the surgery yesterday; it started late (like everything else in this whole storyline), so it didn’t conclude till around 6:30. The surgeon said everything went even better than he anticipated. We just saw her in her room last night before going home. Today, she came out of the anesthesia, came off the ventilator and about half the other things attached to her, and got up out of bed into a chair. Oh, and had lunch, which was all liquid. She’s looking better than they warned us, I think. All her “numbers” are good and the nurses seem happy with how she’s doing.
I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.
