Our little oil spill in Michigan (little only in comparison to the spill in the Gulf, actually) made the top of the news… on the CBC Radio hourly news this morning. The well operator is a Canadian company, which probably explains that. Also, as my friend Dave would say, this is part of Canada here, anyway.
So this dude decides to write a program that downloaded information from Facebook user pages, and then post it to Pirate Bay. You know, as if we don’t already have enough problem with Facebook itself over privacy. The news article at MS:NBC makes it sound like he’s some kind of jerk, really; it doesn’t explain why he did it. I wonder if there’ll be a class-action lawsuit, but being an insensitive idiot isn’t really against any laws, is it… Granted, it’s all info we’d put on Facebook ourselves; he’s just aggregated it and made it easier to use, and surely someone else would’ve done that if it hadn’t been done already. Still, posting it on the exceedingly reputable-sounding Pirate Bay seems like rubbing salt into the wound. (Yes, the first half of that sentence was sarcasm.)
Finally, why do my new pants fit more snugly now, while I’m sitting at my desk, than they did in the store when I tried them on? Gah.
