1996 Southern Rockies Roadtrip

To the pass!
My weekend project has been to scan some of the photos from my road trip in fall of 1996 to Oklahoma City, El Paso, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Denver. I’m not sure which has been more fun, working with the photos or remembering the trip as I did so. It’s probably a tie.

I could write a lot about it, but today is flying out of my control through no fault of my own. Here’s a link to the whole set on Flickr: 1996 Southern Rockies Trip; there are a few details in the descriptions.

About songdogmi

I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.

  1. Wow! You remember 1996?!

Boy, you must be OLD! In 1996 I was…

    ….

    uh…

    30.

Okay. Maybe that wasn’t so long ago.

With the way time has been speeding up lately (seems to happen with age, from what I’ve heard), 1996 seems pretty recent.

When I stop remembering 1996, THEN I’ll be old. At least I hope so….

It was a silly comment. Right now I hang around with a bunch of people a LOT younger than me (who were like… IN MIDDLE SCHOOL in 1996) who would all be amazed to hear that I was buying a house with my S.O. at the time in 1996.

Just remember, hanging out with the young is supposed to keep you young. Right? Right? I mean, what else could explain me hanging out in indie coffeehouses all those years?
