My best bookshelf

My best bookshelf

I spent a good bit of time this morning looking at a Tumblr blog called Book Lovers Never Go to Bed Alone, which is devoted to photos of books and especially shelves full of books. A few of the pics are of the famous libraries that I linked to earlier this week, but most of them are of more modest collections. Still, they were fascinating.

So I was inspired to try a photo of one of my bookshelves. This is the shelf that has most of my “important” books on it, favorite authors and series. I probably should move the books that aren’t properly shelved to the shelf that is immediately to the left, which has lots of space, but I kind of like books in somewhat of a jumble.

The thing I’m embarassed yet compelled to admit is, so many of these books have not been read. I’m sure I would enjoy reading them; I pretty much only buy what I think I’ll like. It’s just hard for me to make time to read, what with work and music and everthing else. Yet they keep publishing more books. At least I have these for when I do get the urge and space to read. That, and they look good, too.

About songdogmi

I'm a longhaired almost-hippie stuck in the inner suburbs of a major rust-belt metropolis who's thoughtful, creative, and kind of geeky. In exchange for a paycheck I run around in a cubicle maze most days. When I escape, I play music, hang out in coffee houses, dink around on the computer, take naps, and think I should be off in the woods somewhere. Every once in a while I get in my car and drive far, far away, though I've always come back so far.
